Great place to eat and relax for islanders, pinoys and anyone looking for the islander experience. The food is great lots of food that's not normally on other hawaiian restaurants menus in the Washington area. Also serves some adult beverages that many other hawaiian restaurants don't do so you really can relax.

I've been here twice & each time was amazing. I'm from Oahu so let's just say I'll be critical about the type of Hawaiian food I eat in the mainland. However, this spot was pretty legit understanding that the family who runs the place is from Hawai'i. During the times I had dined here I had the Lolli lolli chicken (their take on BBQ & Huli Huli chicken), Lau Lau, & the Kalua Pig. All of it was delicious. My boyfriend enjoyed their chicken trio plate with Mochiko chicken, katsu, & Lolli lolli. Their mango bread pudding was also to die for & they have Portuguese sausage! The ambiance is a lot of fun & has you feel like your in "hawai'i". My favorite is the background Hawaiian music they have playing. I'll definitely continue to go here!

It was my our wedding anniversary today 7/12/2015 when we searched for something different for dinner. We found this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant that had great reviews on Yelp. What a great find!!!! From the minute we walked in to walking out, we had great & friendly service. We almost didn't want to Yelp review because the crowds it might draw. (We might not get a seat next time)! We started out with the Pu-Pu platter, and moved into the Loli Loli/Kalhua pork platter. Fantastic!!!! Plenty of food, in fact I had enough for lunch the next day. If you are looking for someplace different with a warm atmosphere, this is it!! Aloha oukou!!!

Food, service & online information for this resturaunt are 4 star. The seared ahi tuna, mixed greens, barbecue, salmon, rice & slaw were fresh & excellent quality. Location is a challenge though as it's situated in a basic strip mall in a very busy area. They suffer from marginal storage, dated restrooms & flies from a neighboring construction site. But it's still worth a visit. There is soap & polish where it counts; & the ambience is in keeping with the laid back feel of Polynesian culture.

Love the ambiance here. Walked in and just adored how the restaurant is set up. The decor evokes the pacific island feel. Food was pretty good too... I ordered the lunch portion of mochi chicken and pork kalua combo and added lumpia to the order. Mochi chicken was crisp on the outside, tender on the inside. Kalua was pretty good too, although I preferred the pork lau lau that my husband ordered. For dessert, we ordered the haupia pie which is a coconut pie... pretty good! Overall, we liked it and we will come back. Next time, I'll try the chicken katsu.

I love this hawaiian place! Its not located in an area where its easy to find, but if you do find it, its like a gem! Plenty of parking as well! The menu could be overwhelming, so many choices!!! The food is amazing. Decent to big portions, local music, sometimes live bands, friendly customer service, decent prices, self seating. What isnt there to love? Mochiko chicken is amazing. Kalua pork was great as well. I def enjoy this place and is one of my go to hawaiian restaurants.

If you're looking for Hawaiian with an extra bit of flavor and quality, this is the place! Personally have been to many Hawaiian BBQs in...shocking but true...Hawaii and have tried the usual suspects in the area including L&L and Kauai Family. No disrespect to any of those but I'll always try to stop by Pac Island when I'm in the area - the others won't do. When you open the door the decor is a pleasant surprise, they spent some time on it over the years for sure. Menu has a huge selection including Portuguese sausage, adobo and probably the best locco mocco I've had. They also have Hawaiian Sun and candies for sale. I can only dream of being severely underweight and parking myself here for days. Too bad I'm getting fat.

I'm sure this place has good food, but unlike their Yelp listing stated, they were not open until 5:30 today. Maybe they weren't open at all. Their food could be amazing, and as an out of town visitor I had been hooked by the listing, only to be disappointed by the closed sign in the window at 4:20 pm. Three more nights here, but I don't think I'll find the time to waste and see if they are open. Maintain your listings...please!

Bad service, when I walked in I sat around for 10 minutes before getting my menu, and there was only 3 other tables. Now I can forgive the bad service but the fact that when my food was ready which I can clearly hear the kitchen saying, "order up", the waitress was taking personal calls. So bad that the person that made the food actually had to serve it. It's not one star because the food was actually decent. But will I come back? Probably not. I got plenty of other choices around the area that actually wants to earn my money

Love this place! This is on our rotation every few months. Great live music on weekends and the food is amazing. We have also gotten catering from them for a bbq the day after the wedding. A true gem in Federal Way.

Delicious!!! I had a lunch special that was perfect size! Mac salad was not normal Mac salad that you typically get with Hawaiian bbq, but it was still pretty good. My husband loved it. The chicken was delicious. Grilled to perfection. Yummy sauce. We also shared the pineapple upside down cake. OMG, it was delicious. I'm definitely coming back here!

Had their food at the Renton River Days community park event. Ordered the special plate for $9 and portions were tiny - felt cheated and $3 for ice tea that was watered down because it sat for hours. Chicken was flavorful but could have done much better! Didn't feel the Aloha!!

Comfy and open eating space. We had the whole family to eat and had a pu-pu platter to start. The men had three types of burgers: the brah, Hawaiian, and the kahlua pork sliders. I got a combo plate of mochiko chicken and kahlua pork with mac salad. Our toddler got a head start with the rice... and we didn't feel rushed with our toddler and infant. Prices are reasonable given their portion sizes. We all left full and happy. Boys got their smoothies to go... so they could bring a bit of the aloha with them! We made sure to show our appreciation by adding to the tip jar. We will definitely be back!

This is a great place for families and for a last minute lunch. My son loves the tonkatsu chicken, and I'm definitely a fan of their ramen soup. Relaxed atmosphere and great spot, would have never even seen it if my husband hadn't pointed it out! :)

1st time here off of recommendation. Been to many Hawaiian Grills in King County but none had hair in the food they provided. In most Hawaiian places if ther are issues, we would always receive the island way treatment with a comp our ticket and we would decline because we can always appreciate the good service. In this case, no consideration of a comp. Just billed in full and no talk of it later. One apology. Didn't feel the atmosphere of the Island Ways. Ignore and shoo'd us away. We tipped anyway because we believe everyone should. I'm sad to write this review but it was very disappointing considering I am an islander myself.

I've never been to the restaurant. Living in Seattle, I've had plenty of opportunities to taste what Pac Island Grill has to offer. I've caught them at events like Live Aloha, Pirate's Landing, and Folklife. Being from Hawaii, I often crave Hawaiian food that I don't have to cook for myself. There's only a handful of places I eat at. If Pac Island Sun was closer, it would definitely be on that list. When they're out and about - they got shave ice and that alone would be enough for me! The ice is perfect and syrup so sweet! In terms of food, I'm a fan of their mochi chicken. Just the right flavor and fried crisp but not greasy. Yum! Their kalua pig is well done and takes me back to the islands. I'm not a fan of the slaw they serve 'cause all I can think about is mac salad. The next time I head that way, I'm eating here. Until then, I'm happy that I can catch them in Seattle for some local kine grindz.

Probably the best Hawaiian BBQ in the PNW. The decor makes you feel like you are in an island paradise. The menu has many offerings, and the service is excellent. The only drawback is the price, as it is on the high side for the serving size. I will be back, but not as often as would like to be.

Pac Island is probably the best place to get Hawaiian food in Federal Way. The inside has some cool island decorations and there is plenty of seating for groups. The quality of meat they used for the bbq was top notch and was enhanced by their awesome sauces. The sides were delicious and the portions were good. The service was friendly and prompt, but could've used some more help during the lunch rush as my water went without a refill. Prices were on par for the portions you get. I'd return for sure.

Really good food at a reasonable price. I had the lau lau, the mochi chicken and kalbi beef. The lau lau was cooked with real butter fish and I must say it really makes the difference. The pork was cooked to perfection. My favorite was the mochi chicken. If you go there you must have it. The Hawaiian decor was nice and it reminded me of being on the islands. A great place to eat if you are in the Federal Way area.

Great people! Great food! Coming again in the future with my mom or anyone! Make sure you ask for what you want and if you are not sure what is in it, ask! Remember it's not Burger King and you can't have it your way and expect no spices and no flavor. This place has delicious food and if you have allergies please let someone know. I read somewhere that food paces similar to this one had gotten bad ratings because they made the food too spicy. Or too many onions??

Good food, not great... except for the LOLI chicken was ONO-LICIOUS. I ordered the mini combo pack 6M Hawaiian BBQ beef and Loli chicken (available weekdays 11am-2pm $9.95). It came with one scoop rice and one scoop mac salad. It was a good size portion, larger then what I would think a "mini" would be, but also more expensive then I would think a "mini" would be. The beef was good, but the Loli chicken was excellent. Loli chicken is their version of huli huli chicken and my mouth is watering as I think about it. I also ordered an order of spam musubi (forget the price, but it was around 5 or 6 bucks), it came with 2 on the plate. The musubi was good and I liked that it had egg in it, but I was very disappointed that the slice of spam was super thin. boo! Service was good - very laid back Hawaii style aunty kine. The restaurant was clean, plenty of parking and food was quick and hot. I'll definitely be back, but I won't be ordering the musubi :(

Located in a business park like setting across the street from the mall, this is a hidden gem. The interior is clean with great decor. I did get a little confused though as this seemed like a Japanese restaurant with a few pulled pork and BBQ dishes added in. I'm not sure, from my past experiences, that I've ever seen dishes such as Chicken Katsu, Yakisoba, and Gyoza at a Hawaiian BBQ themed restaurant. I don't mind it at all but was just a little confused at first. Maybe have two menus? That may be confusing as well for some. I cam in craving BBQ, not Yakisoba. I purchased the Hawaiian BBQ Beef meal with the Macaroni salad and rice and a side of Gyoza. Everything was great. The steak strips was very flavorful. I didn't even need the sweet and spicy BBQ sauce but that was a great add on to the meat too. The Gyoza was perfect, in my opinion too. The sodas were $2.25 which I though was kind of a rip off but they bring you a 24oz. cup so you don't have to ask for refills numerous times which was nice. The service was wonderful too. Checked back with me 4 times during my meal and brought me the bill promptly as soon as they saw that I was finished. Their bathroom was clean too which is nice to see. I definitely would recommend this place to those in the mood for Japanese and Hawaiian BBQ.

Surprisingly not very good. I read the reviews before eating the food and thought it was going to be great. The food was Ok. I ate less than half of it and threw out the rest. We eat at L&L a lot and we love that place. We also go to Hawaii at least twice a year and are moving to Maui next year. So we've had our share of Hawaiian food. Pac Island Grill's food just seemed blah in comparison.

Came in on a Friday afternoon and the only people there other than my partner and I was one other couple. Sat down and promptly got our menus without a word or a smile from the waitress. She just set the menus down. Ok...not a great start. She came back a few minutes later pen and writing pad in hand and still without any sort of friendliness asked us "what are you getting?" That's it. Okay. Maybe she's just having an off day. I put in my order and my partner needed to look over the menu a little longer and the waitress left without a word. No "it'll be right out" or "I'll have that right out" or "sure I'll come back in a few" or even an "ok". Nothing. A while passes and she brings our drinks, sets them on the table, and again walks away without saying anything. At this point, my partner was ready to order but there was no chance to say anything. She didn't even ask. We waited a while longer, no sign of our waitress, another woman working was there and I had to get her attention after a long waiting time with no service. She asked if we had been helped yet then took the second order. No apologies for the other waitress. The food seems pricey at first, but the amount that they give you for it is definitely worth it. My plate had the ribs, mochi chicken, katsu, rice and macaroni salad for a little over $15. Not bad at all! My partners had the create your own with katsu, orange chicken, one more protein that is slipping my mind at the moment, rice and macaroni salad. It was more than plenty, we had to take some home. The food was overall pretty good, not bad, but not great either. While we were eating a waitress and a male employee in the back were messing around loudly, screaming and laughing at a volume high enough to interrupt our conversation. We could hear them clearly and eventually, it began to make us uncomfortable. Now, both of our drinks have been sitting empty for a while and we are close to done with eating and we have not had anyone come to our table at all to refill drinks, ask if we need anything or how the food was, it was like we weren't even there. I should also mention the only other people in the place left a few minutes after we arrived, so we were the only customers in there. After waiting and waiting.....waiting some more...waiting even more...I was impatient. This was some of the worst customer service I had ever had. To top this off, there was about six waitresses/employees sitting at down at one of the tables only two tables down from our own. I had to get up and ask them if they were working because we had not had service and we needed a drink refill and box to go. They said they were and then "okay". I went to sit down. The waitress refilled our drinks and set down the bill and to go box without a word (again) and walked away. I can't fathom how they thought that sort of customer service (or lack thereof) was acceptable. The food wasn't tasty enough to make up for it and we definitely won't be back. Disappointing.

We couldn't have asked for a better over-all experience. They catered a party for us and it turned out perfect thanks to the folks at Pac Island Grill. I planned a surprise party for my sister from Arizona and it all turned out perfect. The food was unbelievable. The service was wonderful. They even decorated the service area beautifully. They worked with me the whole time and didn't even flinch when I couldn't tell them a firm arrival time until the day of the party. EVERYONE loved the food and we had TONS of it. No one, not even the teenage boys, left hungry.

Nice spacious spot tucked away on a side street near the SeaTac Mall (I'm not sure what they call it now.) The food is on point and always tastes very good and fresh. The service is very laid back and can be hard to come by at times, but they've always been very friendly and accommodating. I suggest the Kahlua Pork and Pork Lau Lau.

First time here, only came because it was the place that friends chose for their anniversary celebration. It was absolutely delicious! Plenty of choices, but if a particular combination doesn't strike your fancy, you may Create-your-Own and chose 2 or 3 items. I had the mochi chicken, the chicken katsu and the kahula pork. The best I've ever had! I say this after spending at least 3 days a month during the last 5 years in one of the Hawaiian Islands. I know good Hawaiian food!

Wow is this place great. Our party of 8 tried numerous dishes - all delicious. Service was prompt and friendly. As a bonus they had a live band playing island music. The locals have clearly discovered this place and there were many families here. They have a good kids menu with a mix of burgers and island food. Portions on both kids and adult meals are quite large so if you're not super hungry or not a big eater, consider splitting a dish. Ambiance is also very fun - very island themed. Just plain fun and casual. We will definitely return any time we are in town. Just wish we lived closer - we'd be here all the time.

I ordered take out cause I was debating on getting my daughters bday food catered by them. When I opened the box they did not give a lot of meat as shown when dining in. The BBQ beef was not great but the chicken was tasty. Mac salad wasn't good either. Sadly I'll have to find another caterer who will give me the right to go portion.

Co-worker suggested we eat at this place today and I'm surprised I've missed this place in my travels over the past few years. Guess it's been open at this location since 2005. Nice family restaurant feel...staff was very friendly but service wasn't the fastest. We also showed up during the lunch rush which didn't help. Lots of variety on the menu. Tried the hamburger steak since that's my favorite at most Hawaiian places. Good sized portions...meat was a little bland but gravy was nice and flavorful, onions were grilled perfectly. Mac salad was so-so. A little too sweet for my taste. Overall, I'd say this is pretty decent Hawaiian restaurant. Didn't knock my socks off but I'm certainly gonna come back to try something else on the menu. Good to have an alternative to L & L for Hawaiian food in Federal Way.

Have been here three times now, and will be going back. Not only is the food very good - the service is fantastic. I think it was the owner that has waited on us each time we went and she's great! Highly recommend for catering. Traveled all the way to Ft. Lewis. Arrived on time, and David, who delivered, was equally as nice and professional as Leanna, who helped order/coordinate. Catered for 50: 1.5 pans each kalua pork and BBQ huli chicken, 1 pan pineapple rice, 1 pan yakisoba, 100 lumpia, and it was perfect, although we could have used 1/2 more pan yakisoba. We could not use chafers, and served right out of the hotel pans--food arrived hot and was still more than hot enough for serving 30 minutes later. A HUGE hit with the soldiers and staff, many of whom were Filipino and/or from Guam, and know their Island food. Thanks so much for a great event, Pac Island Grill!

This place is the best! We have been coming here for five years and even had them cater my parent's anniversary party a few years back. Faves are the #7 (Kahlua pork and lol chicken combo), miso salmon, the Mahi Mahi tacos, short ribs, oooh the lumpia, the fried rice with spam...and don't forget the pineapple upside down cake. We love the hawaiian iced tea - very refreshing! Yeah....pretty much everything is delicious. Love you guys. Keep up the great work!

Absolutely loved it. I ordered the pu pu platter and the pork lau lau. I loved both these dishes and I would recommend them both especially the pu pu platter. The decor is lovely but just a bit too much. When we sat down the decor made it feel like we were actually sitting inside a restaurant in Hawaii. I loved their BBQ chicken, it was flavorful, juicy, tender, and cooked just right. Their coconut shrimp was exquisite and I normally hate fried seafood. The pork lau lau was tender and juicy and after the first bite it just seemed like it melts in your mouth. I have to say though I was a bit disappointed because the flavor was a bit bland. For something this yummy and not having enough flavor was disappointing. But at the same time I think it compliments the fat from the pork and butter fish, so I am kinda glad it wasn't too strong in salt, otherwise it would've been too savory and I wouldn't have been able to finish it. I also had their macaroni salad as a side dish and I wasn't too fond of it maybe next time I'll try their coleslaw. For dessert I had the upside down pineapple cake with whip cream. I thought it was too sugary. I wish there was more cake and less of the pineapples, because the syrup from the pineapples overpowered the flavor of the cake. And I would've liked it if their cake came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream instead of whip cream. Overall, I would come back because the service, atmosphere, and food were worth the drive.

ALOHA! We came here Friday night we a group of 7. It was fun. Some of our group hadnt ever had Hawaiian BBQ and some are pretty versed in it. I had the Kaluha Pork with Cabbage... it was pretty standard. I was hoping for more cabbage. But the taste was good. Perfect sticky rice. I also had the Pineapple upside down cake. YUM....... YUMMMMM. My friends had the Mochi Chicken, which he said he only liked once he put Sirachi on it. It was his kind of flavor. My other friend had the Loli Chicken and he really liked it. Oh and we had some of the Haupia Pie. That was pretty good. I found the service to be a little lacking. I found out later that it was just the 'island way'. Our server was really nice taking our orders, brought us a pitcher of water and then only returned with our tab. Never checked on us. Lastly, I was told not to use the restroom. I looked oddly at the person in my group who said it. She said, if you need to go... use the men's room, it is cleaner. HUH?! That was a sad fact, I didnt go back and check, but two girls and one guy in my group confirmed.

I went to Pac grill for some musubi it cost me six dollars when I asked why she said there was four pieces in there when I open the box each piece with half the length of a normal most musubi and the girl told me that Hawaiian L&l Grill is cheaper well if they want to shuffle business to another business I'm glad to continue going to L&l it better anyways and cheaper lol!!!!

I was fortunate enough to stumble on this restaurant on a business trip to Federal Way. I wanted to thank my company for sending me on this trip just because I got to eat food at Pac Island Grill. The food was amazing, I got the Hawaiian BBQ Special and there wasn't one thing that I did not find absolutely delicious on the plate. The Haupia Pie for dessert was so great that I can't wait to return to Federal Way to go here again. What sets this place apart from the rest is the family, the owner took the time to talk with me about growing up in Hawaii and telling me a little bit about the restaurant. I would recommend that anyone passing through Federal Way or if you live here, do yourself a favor and go to this restaurant. One of the best dining experiences I have ever had.

I ordered the combo plate with tonkatsu, short ribs, rice and macaroni salad. My husband had the loco moco. According to him, both the hamburger patty and egg were way overcooked. The gravy was just so-so. For my combo plate, the tonkatsu was juicy and crispy. Just what you would expect. The short ribs, on the other hand, were so disappointing! They were flavorless and way over cooked aka DRY! As for the macaroni salad, the one from L&L's is 10 times better. The only thing this restaurant has going for it is its ambiance. It's a very calm and relaxing scene. And the servers really do treat you like Ohana. We happen to be there the night a live band played. The music was beautiful. The old man (which I'm assuming is the dad) played the ukelele along with the band, and even danced with his wife. It was so sweet.

Pac Island Grill is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is consistently delicious and the service in great. The owners keep a very family-oriented vibe going, which has attracted many long time customers, like my family. There is live music every Saturday, which makes for a very fun, party-like atmosphere. We even got them to cater one of our family parties. The food was impeccable, and aunty even decorated the buffet table. She also offered to cut and serve our cake, even though it was from a different vendor. I love Pac Island and will continue to support that business.

I had the kalua pork and teri chicken I believe. Nothing compared to food in hawaii, I am disappointed in this place. I really would love some good Hawaiin food. I'm not sure it deserves 3 stars. It's not horrible it just isn't the real thing and kinda average compared to other food out there.

Thought this place was pretty fantastic. Delicious food, cozy environment. They honored the coupon I had and the prices were reasonable. A little taste of Aloha here in the cold PNW. Makes me wanna go back to HI sooooo bad. Only 4 stars due to some sporadic yelling coming from the kitchen, which was a tad disturbing and kind of put a little twist in the vibe.....but we will be back!

The atmosphere is why you go to Pac Island Grill. Small place that can get "packed" really fast. The food is ono. I only go for the real loco stuff. Hamburger steak, loco moco, and all that stuff is for people who don't truly know what Hawaiian food is. Like ever Hawaiian knows you don't judge something by the way it looks. Outside is clean but not elegant so don't go there looking for fondue with suits and ties. Its the home cooked island food and spirit is why you go there. The service could be faster but the staff is small. I recommend this place even if you don't like it in the end it deserves a chance to be on everyone's "I have to try that out list".

This is a great spot to get Hawaiian food in the south end. Eating here made me think of Hawaii and now I want to go on vacation soooo badly. The decor and atmosphere is fun and definitely has the island vibe to it. The food was really good, I ended up starting off with the pu pu platter, which was awesome and allowed me to try their menu items out. For my entree, I went with the Big Island Deluxe and was not disappointed. The serving size was HUGE and the quality and tastes were how they are supposed to be. My only gripe would be the service was on the slow side, and when we were there the place was pretty empty. Other than that, everything else was great.

Leaving 1 star because I have to. The husband and I decided to try this place out after looking these reviews. We show up around 6:15 and there about 3 tables. No bad... Says to seat yourself so we do. The first table be sat down at was covered with left over pieces of rice and lettuce but you couldn't tell because of the table covered in colorful ads for you to look at while you wait... and wait... and wait someone for someone know acknowledge you. We sat there for a good 15 minutes while the waitress talked and laughed with I'm guessing friends that came into the place. We tried making eye contact, cleaning our throat... I love Pac Island Grill. It is nice to have one more place to go other than L&L. I had the chicken trio plate and it was awesome. The katsu was super crispy, flavorful and moist on the inside. The Mochiko chicken was also super crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. I will def be coming back to sample more of the menu!

They have a very extensive list of menu items and the food here has been pretty good. When they have live music the restaurant can be pretty busy. Most of the times I have been here I have received good service. Their prices are a bit high and they no doubt pile on the rice without having a brown rice option.

I worked in Oahu, HI for a bit so I am pretty familiar with Hawaiian food and I really enjoy the food here. The loli chicken has always been consistently moist and never overcooked. The portions are very generous. The mac salad is heavy, but good. The gravy on the loco moco was a little salty last time we had it, but I'm willing to try it again. All in all, it's definitely onolicious and this is where I go to get my island fix. Plus, when you step inside, you feel like you are on the island with all of the fixtures and decorations. We enjoy it here. :)

Really great place with nice, warm relaxed island vibe. Service was friendly and welcoming and food was ono! We ordered Lumpia Shanghai, Loco Moco, Island Chicken Trio and the kid's Mochi nuggets. The appetizer of Lumpia Shanghai was rather small for the price of $5.99; it was 6 skinny pieces that looked like they were cut in half to make it look like more. Other than that the portions are HUGE and we had plenty leftover. The brown gravy for the Loco Moco was outstanding and not salty as we've tried at other places, the Mochi Chicken is a must to order; very tender, moist, and succulent. The BBQ Loli chicken was very flavorful and juicy the only drawback was the sauce for the Panko Crusted Katsu was bland. Overall you get big portions(minus the appetizer) for what you pay and the food is yummy!

This place brings the meaning of "ohana" to life... We walk in, and the decor has cheesy Hawaiian getaway written all over it...but for them, it works. There weren't many diners when we went in, but instead, (what looked like) family were gathered in the front part of the restaurant (I think it was someone's birthday). They were eating, doing homework, playing on their laptops, etc. It felt very homey - like I was walking into someone's private kitchen. The food was fine - filling - and I was content with the quality. I'm always up for some Hawaiian macaroni salad, so I was pleased with that. The service was great. Our server was kind, made suggestions of her favorites, and gave our group dessert on the house (after we had declined ordering any) because she didn't think we should miss their mango mousse pie. OMG, I'm so glad we didn't! It had the most perfect mango flavor without being too sweet and it was a great way to end our meal. Though their food might not be the BEST, I'd come back just for the atmosphere....it's great. :-)

After debating so much about where to spend my bday dinner with my friends, I finally settled on Pac Island Grill. When you walk in, it has a comfy atmosphere and there was a live band playing (I think they are only there Friday & Saturday night??). My friend secretly told them it was my bday and they ended up singing to me. I had the Kualua Pork! YUM! and a Spam Musubi (my boyfriend ate most of those). First time for Hawaiian BBQ and it was pretty dang tasty. Me and the hubby got two different combo's to share and while he consumed all the different meat I discovered the honey miso dipping sauce for the coconut shrimp. Ho-ly Crap. Screw the meat and just get me more things to dip into the heavenly sauce. Been two weeks since I had it and i'm starting to get the shakes for more. The empty plates and the full slightly glazed look we had at the end says it all. But that sauce....I needs me some more!

Wonderful food! I had the great fortune to stumble upon their stand at a festival. The pork sliders were to die for and the BBQ pork skewers were equally lovely. I thought that it was really good. I had the Mahi Mahi tacos with Volcano sauce and I just couldn't get enough! Great portion for lunch a bit on the pricy side, but then again I got some premium fish. The environment was friendly and calming. It's a homely place. The reason I'm giving this only 3 stars is because of two things. If you are looking to get a quick bite this is not the place for you! Very slow service. We were the only ones in there and it took a long time to get our food. Number two my dad wasn't impressed with their spicy chicken sandwich, which I actually thought was pretty tasty. The server was very nice though and that is always a plus. Overall I like the place and I will come again, but only if I'm in the area.

I did not like the food here. I really tried... I brought my mom and brother with me based on Yelp! reviews and a restaurant.com coupon. My macaroni salad was really greasy - like Crisco. My chicken was undercooked and flavorless. I wish I would have known their fruit juices just came in a can (and served in a can) made with high fructose corn syrup - definitely wouldn't had ordered that had I known. The coconut shrimp was good - and service was good. We were the only customers there but it seemed like everyone who was working had their family in sitting around hanging out. Kind of weird, but maybe they were planning a catering gig or something, right next to us. Overall: cool funky Hawaiian decor, decent service, but I wasn't a fan of the food.

This is one of the few restaraunt that you get to just go in and seat yourself. It's located around the Common Mall area. The decoration is nice. My favorite is their Pu-Pu platter appetizer: lumpia, chicken skewer, spam musubi and coconut prawns. Just that alone fills me up already. Use restaraunt.com coupon and you will save a lot of money for this place.

Been here on several occasions and LOVE the food! Had always ordered the Kahlua pork and Laulau combo which comes w/ steamed rice and macaroni. Their food tastes great.. will tickle your palette enough for you to want to go back. Portions are good although they give you just a small amount of rice.. so I always have to order an extra scoop :) I've never been to Hawaii and will not pretend that I can vouch for authenticity. But I love coming here when I have a craving for Hawaiian food. The staff/owners are very friendly and the food is prepared quickly. I would recommend this place if you are tired of eating at the burger/Mexican chains around Federal Way.

Having never had Hawaiian food before I can't say whether it's authentic but I can say it was pretty good. You get huge portions given the lunch price. I had the orange chicken and DH got the yakisoba, which had a very curry flavor to it. My orange chicken actually tasted like orange, possibly because they used real orange, and that confused my taste buds for a moment (given how I'm used to like, Safeway and mall food). You get your entree, two scoops of rice (good sized scoops, too), and either coleslaw or macaroni salad. We both opted for the macaroni salad... didn't taste like much and reminded me of the store bought stuff. It actually tasted better the next day when I heated up my leftovers and forgot it was in the styrofoam container as well and nuked the salad. Strange. The atmosphere is great, you can tell they put a lot of effort into making this place feel like you're on a tropical island and not in some little strip mall in Federal Way. This isn't a complaint so much as an observation: our waitress (while very friendly) was MIA for 80% of our meal. I don't know if this is the way it normally is (seems like it might be, given other reviews) or if it was the fact that she seemed to have family there, (small kids and maybe a sister visiting at a table nearby). She was certainly nice enough when she was around, but she basically handed us menus, disappeared, came back to take our orders, disappeared, came back with the food, disappeared, came back with the check then... you guessed it, disappeared. It wasn't a huge deal for us because we entertained ourselves reading the trivia packets and trying to thumb wrestle each other, but if you like being lavished with attention this place probably won't cut it. It could just be a Hawaiian thing too, because when I used to work in customer service trying to get the people in Hawaii to do anything was not only trying to pull hen's teeth, but also trying to put the teeth back in the hen. They just aren't in a hurry to do anything. At all. Overall really yummy, and I'm sure I'll be back to try new things. They appeared to be setting up for the live music when we were leaving (since we had lunch), so I'd like to come back sometime when that's going on!

Hawaiian Fare in Federal Way! Maybe I came on a bad day, but for now, I'll have to give this place a 2. I've had way better Hawaiian elsewhere in Seattle. The service was nice and waitress was friendly as expected. The Decor was fun and the restaurant was spacious. If I were you, I'd order the Lomi Lomi chicken. This dish stood out from the rest of the dishes and felt like real family Hawaiian. Chicken katsu tasted like regular chicken katsu, and the kalbi ribs were a bit salty. This place was not finger licking good and a tad pricey for the size of the portions. I'll give this place another shot in the future, for now, it is a bit mediocre for me.

All of the fake palm trees and surfboards made me feel like I was in "Saved by the Bell: Hawaiian Style." It's all in good fun though. On our visit from Vegas just last week we decided to eat here before our flight back after visiting family. Having lived in Puyallup for over 20 years there were very few Hawaiian restaurants around back in the '80's and '90's so having the opportunity to try this one was good. We have eaten at Saimin Says (bland), Brudda Peter's Kauai Family Restaurant (very good) and Brudda Bobby Nakihe's in Evert (very good), and now this place, and even L&L (bad-fake kine Hawaiian food). Wife had the saimin (very small for the price and bland), son had the spam and eggs which was so-so cause he ate here before, and I had the yakisoba-it's like eating noodles with sugar and shoyu-bad! Would I go back, I don't think so, especially coming from Vegas. Decor was surprising when walking in the door, not to my taste though. Back home - simple is a must, not fake kine trees. Ever come to Vegas you gotta go to Island Flavor in the southwest part of the valley. Now this is the best in Hawaiian food, Big Island style, in the valley. Bruce and family are great and the service and portion is humangess. Cannot eat it all!! And I'm a pretty big guy. Don't go to Aloha Kitchen or L&L here in Vegas unless you want to get sick or food poisioning, and the new one Island Sushi at the Plaza hotel - real bad. Lots of different Hawaiian restaurants popping up but very few that are traditional like home.

This is the best place in Federal Way for any type of Hawaiian food, much better than it's competitor that is located down the street from them. Right when you walk in something comes over you and you just want to yell "ALOHA!!!". The people are very friendly and happy to see you visiting their restaurant. They are very personable and love to talk to you. The food is great and the portions will fill you up. I love the spam masubis there. The chicken katsu is very good as well and it makes for a good dinner that will not leave you feeling empty. All in all, this place is somewhere i would definitely go again!!!!

Bland, is the word that comes to mind. Although the atmosphere is great, the taste of the food needs fixing. I ordered the Luau Plate in order to get a little taste of most everything; Loli Loli Chicken (where did the name Loli-Loli come from?), Lau-lau, rice, Lomi Salmon, Macaroni salad, Kalua Pig (pork) and last but not least, a very thin slice of what appeared to be Coconut-Haupia cake/pie. The macaroni was under cooked (hard) and tasted nothing like a real macaroni salad from home (Hawaii). I wondered if Best Foods Mayonaise was used vs some other immitation brand. Both the kalua pig and the lau lau had no flavoring whatsoever...like I said, bland. It took quite a while to get our orders, but then I'm used to 'Hawaiian time'. The service was good and the people were friendly and the Hawaiian-style 'feeling' was present. Both, Bobby's in Everett and Kauai Family Kitchen have far better tasting food. But, I'll give it another chance. Maybe the cook was 'off' the night we visited. 2-stars at best.

I just found this place unexpectedly as i was looking around federal way for a place to eat. It looks like it is a family owned restaurant with everyone being nice. i was impress with the decor of the restaurant-it looks very Hawaiian with comfortable seating. We ordered a burger and the lomi lomi chicken. The burger wasn't too bad but i felt that I could make it myself. The lomi lomi chicken was pretty good-it was moist and tasted like it was grilled. Don't order the macaroni salad, it was really bland. The lumpia was delicious. Never ate Hawaiian food before but i felt that the food was mediocre.

I heard people raving about the food here. So, I decided to make the trek down to Federal Way just for the food here. Well, it was just ok. I really wanted to like the food here because there aren't too many great Hawaiian places in the Seattle area. I had the combo (I forgot the name) that included the beef ribs, katsu, and then a choice between pulled pork/mochi chicken/or Loli chicken. I picked the Loli chicken. Well, the ribs were an odd cut. I know ribs can include some gristle on them, sure. But these were a little on the overly fatty side, which may or may not be acceptable for some (I didn't like it). Also, the flavor was on the bland side. The katsu, was average. Not bad, not great. Nothing special. And the Loli chicken? Tasted just like average chicken teriyaki. The macaroni salad was pretty good though, and I sampled some of the pulled pork which was quite good. So, maybe my choices were just bad. Price was good (cheap for the decent portion size!) and the decor and service was really nice. I hear there's live music here, which is a nice touch. Overall, not really worth a drive from Seattle. Maybe if you happened to be in the area and really wanted Hawaiian food. At least the price is right!

We really love that place. Unpretentious, kids friendly and just pleasing comforting food. Food is Hawaiian / Filipino, simple, filling and yummy. It's not a fancy place, just a nice place to get a comforting meal/brunch and affordable. Portions are large, so you probably won't need an appetizer. One of there combo plates (10-15$) is way enough.

This place is tucked away in the corner of a shopping complex. The location of the business is almost next to impossible for you to run into it if you didn't know it was there, but once you find out about this place they will have you coming back for me! We came in for dinner which seemed pretty mellow about 6ish and it was self seating so finding a table was not hard. The menu selection was a bit overwhelming for me because I really just didn't know where you start! We ended up ordering the pu-pu platter appetizer, bbq grill combination, seafood combination, kalua pork, ramen, and the fruit smoothies! I would say maybe close to 95% of that meal was finished and it was all relatively cheap maybe ranging anywhere from 13-17/plate! Oh yeah and it was also the boss ladies husband's birthday, Happy birthday boss! Keep up the good food!

We usually get take out from here a couple times a year (they always have coupons floating around). The first thing I noticed this time was they FINALLY remodeled and now the chairs and tables match - it looks so much better. Ordered 2 combos to go with a side of gyoza and 1 lumpia added to each order (Total with coupon $25). The gyoza were meh (tiny and $5 for 8), the lumpia which were $1 each were tiny and awful - so skip the appetizers! I got 2 combos with Ribs (AWESOME), katsu chicken (very good), kahlua pork w/ cabbage (I don't do pulled pork but everone else liked it), rice, cole slaw (meh) and mac salad (not bad). This easily fed 4 people! Next time I'l just stick with combos!

'da kine. This place serves 'Plate Lunch' style food like you get in the islands. Nothing too fancy, just good ono grinds. The combo plates offer plenty to eat and depending on the day they offer poki and lomi lomi salmon. The lau lau is my favorite. My wife always goes for the Chicken Trio [Mochi, Katsu & Loli-Loli (Huli-Huli)]. A couple Heinikins and haupia pie for dessert finish it off right. The kalua pig is good for the NW, and the LocoMoco's are 'da bomb, but stay away from the saimin (not-so-great). The staff treats you like family and they have live local kine music on the weekends. When the waitresses start the hula it's feels like a baby luau in Waipahu! Aloha

I finally made it down to Pac Island Grill thanks to their Groupon. The decor is the fun, kitschy Hawaiian vibe. I had their loli loli chicken which was amazing! Also loved their mac salad, but could only take a few bites as it was much richer than other mac salads at Hawaiian joints. Fiance had their loco moco and thought it was good. The spam musubi was okay, but not the best we've had. It completely fell apart in our hands because the rice wasn't packed very well. But, I'm a total spam musubi snob!

I love Pac Island Grill. Call ahead to find out if there is music on the weekends, and go when there is live entertainment. Be sure to come early to get a seat. The menu has a great variety and is good and plenty of food. I wouldn't reccomend this restaurant if you are in a big hurry. Take your time and enjoy, no one wants you to leave if you are enjoying yourself. It took a long time to get our bill because the waitress kept dancing hula with the musicians. I loved it!

My family enjoys this place because it's location and they've made friends with the staff. (My family is always doing that...haha) I had the Loco Moco. It was huge! I could barely finish it all. I would like to suggest that they hold back on the salt. I like the restaurant and will probably go back with my family again, but probably not on my own. I don't eat pork so that pretty much limits me to those "not-so-local" menu items. (Teriyaki...no thanks!) Live entertainment is a plus 1, but unfortunately the dessert tray is first come, first served. Someone else got my haupia that night. :( minus 1.

Very yummy food! Everything I have tried here was really good. It is a Hawaiian restaurant so expect them to work on Island time, seemed to take a while for the food to get out, but no big deal since I knew what to expect. They have live music on the weekend. Nice family environment and nice food.

Usually when I have a pulled pork sandwich, I have it with bbq sauce. Instead of bbq sauce, the pulled pork sandwich here had special sweet chili mayo and I believe cabbage. I had no clue what it was when I first ordered it, but decided to try it anyway. It was pretty good. You can really taste the pork because it wasn't swimming in sauce. It came with fries that were a bit limp. This might be because they don't use any trans fat. Or not, I dont know. I do know that I don't feel overly stuffed, so that is a good thing. I will come here again and try something different. Zipzap Zubidy Bop!

I agree with Jennifer S's review that the atmosphere is very nice and has an island feel to it. I ordered the sampler platter. The BBQ beef (kalbi) was okay, nothing special. You're better off going to a Korean BBQ if you want kalbi. The grilled pork was the same. But the loli chicken was exceptional. Would definitely order that again. The scoops of rice with macaroni salad reminded me of our honeymoon in Hawaii. They call it a "plate" lunch: a grilled meat with two scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. The macaroni was very nice. The service was friendly, though not the most attentive. More island style. My daughter had saimin soup, kind of a bland ramen soup with BBQ pork slices on top. Very bland. Overall, I would definitely go back for the loli chicken. Very juicy. Very tasty. It's won awards. Nice casual dining.

Came with family, the atmosphere was great, they had a live band playing Hawaiian music but the food was bland, place has great potential, just food needs better food. If I am ever back in Seattle I might give it another shot.

I've tried just about all the "Hawaiian" restaurants on the I-5 corridor from Olympia to Everett ... even those off the I-5 corridor (i.e. Spanaway, WA). I've believe Pac Island is one of the best places overall. Pac Island is more akin to a family diner rather than a formal restaurant ... which is only fitting for a Hawaiian establishment. I gave 3.5 stars for the food, the fourth star for the staff and the fifth star for the live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

Someone on this site told me about this place so I had to check it out. I ordered their Spam Masubi which was ok. I also got their Hawaiian BBQ Special which came with their BBQ beef, Loli-Loli grilled chicken, and bbq pork. I liked the beef the best. Service was ok, I'm thinking to order some party platters for my rehearsal dinner.

I love this place! The food is really fresh and authentic. Blows L & L out of the water. My favorites are the kalua pork, mochi chicken, and the macaroni salad. The decor is really cute with a thatched roof, bamboo and island accents that are fun and not tacky. There is also live music on weekends! One of my favorite places for a tasty, inexpensive dinner.

It is very family orriented. The food there is always good. The service is good. & it is WAY better then L&L. They cook traditional hawaiian dishes very well.
